During World War 1 & 2 bacon fat was saved to be used in the production of munitions. Every household used to collect their amount and then a Neighborhood Bacon Grease drive would or Cadets/Scouts/Guides would come along to collect it. Mmmmmmm Bacon, if only the whole world could eat it, imagine the Peaceful satisfaction there would be World Wide?

F.Y.I. Just one more note from an Old Man. Did you know that Super Glue was invented during WW2 and used during the Vietnam War to put wounds back together. Although Super Glue (cyanoacrylate glues), were useful on the battlefield, the FDA was reluctant to approve them for civilian use:
