Did you know that we all have a basic belief in GOD? 
Whether this is the GOD of the Old and New Testament, 
or one’s worship of GOD for a different faith. 

Some of us sometimes even worship material things as if they; 
were GOD actually in our lives. 

For the use of talismans or even our simple own good luck, 
could also be considered as a form of worship. 
Even the expenditure of effort to not believe in any GOD at all, 
one may consider this as another belief in GOD of sorts. 

Then as a belief, is it not in itself a form of denial belief and really, the worship of an anti-GOD? 
As they say; I believe that I would rather believe in GOD and find out I was wrong; 
than Not Believe in GOD and find out I was wrong. 

As it comes down to it, I also believe that it is one thing to know there is a GOD; It is quite another, to know the GOD who is!

Of all the pleasures in my life one of them, is to sit by our church’s water display and think about GOD.
Once on this days date, I wondered as to why Satan did not see our Lord’s death on the cross and resurrection coming?
Then a thought came to me; “it is because he cannot tell the future”.

This led me to more thoughts about the power of GOD and Satan’s war for souls?
I understand the difference between heaven and hell and I believe and know that through JESUS CHRIST that I have been saved from such a fate by my belief in Him.
Thoughts like these have become especially deep in meaning for me considering my poor health of late…

In my younger days a Rolling Stone song “Sympathy for the devil” haunted me to this day with these lines:

Not that I get many Biblical references from rock songs, but one cannot help to be affected from moments that come to your attention through daily events.
Still, the question which nagged me most is the “Is the nature of my game?” part of these lyrics.

Another thought, informed me; “that all of Satan’s Gifts of Evil are really only shadows and wisps of smoke”, basically illusions.
Illusions that have inspired the likes of Adolf Hitler, Waco Texas, Oklahoma City Bombing, the Columbine Massacre and many more murders etc. of man’s horrors, to give but only a few.
Satan uses his Illusions to entice us into doing vile things. It is man who makes evil a reality and by doing so, assists Satan in the mocking of God!
Even our own simple every day acts of cruelty and lies to one and another. Which is innocently carried out by us, can be just as sinful when put into the right context.

So in and around the 20th of every April I await the next of Satan’s horrors through man to unfold!
Why that date, I still ask????
If I may share this, which is my humble small bit of advice to all of you, my sisters and brothers.
That is to be very, very careful as to what thoughts that you put into practice.
For in the blink of an eye we all could die any moment from right now.
Leaving really anyone, with no time for any form of helpful and yet, soul saving contrition on their part.
For as the song says “Ah, what's puzzling you, is the nature of my game?”
Take heed, as you can easily and very inadvertently assist Satan in the mocking of God and the surrender of your own soul, to be laid waste through Evil!

If we then can see, that we are as diverse as snowflakes,
then our individualities are assured for me and you.

or breath, drink the waters, as we all live on this small planet.

Then we are just hiding behind our own,
self-made curtains of mistrust and shame.

This Year we are celebrated our 60th Anniversary Formation as an Air Cadet Squadron with a “Freedom of the City Parade”. I was given the honour to inspect the Cadets along with the dignitaries; Deputy Mayor Gordon Lowe, Captain Ricard, Chief Warrant Officer Tran, so this is why I have no photos of the inspection of Royal Canadian Air Cadets 538 Buffalo Squadron Cadets.

“Freedom of the City” the Story Behind the Ceremony:
This year 538 Buffalo Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron is celebrating its 60th Anniversary. In honour of this 538 Squadron was granted Freedom of the City. A time honoured tradition dating back as far as ancient Rome.

The Freedom of the City is one of the most prized honours that a community can bestow upon a military unit. Citizens of a municipality express their affection and esteem for a military unit by granting this honour. This gives a unit the privilege of marching through the community with drums beating, Colours flying and bayonets fixed. A community will grant freedom of the city for one of two reasons: the municipality has enjoyed a long and happy relationship with a unit; or, to mark a people's gratitude for heroic service.

Back in the days of the Roman legions it was a capital offence to enter the city while in formation or with their weapons. If a one of these legions had shown an act of heroism or were considered to be of high honour, then they may have been granted Freedom of the City. This meant they would not have to disarm or break ranks before they were allowed into the city. This was extremely rare as it meant the city would be allowing for considerable risk. I think we have most have heard of the Trojan horse or Julius Caesar!!

The British continued this tradition by only allowing military units to enter their cities after they were assured that the troops would be on their best behavior and they had identified the purpose of their presence. Once understood the Chief Magistrate or the Lord Mayor would grant them Freedom of the City.

Today it remains an honoured tradition and a wonderful Canadian Civic Recognition to be bestowed upon an organization. A version you may be more familiar with is a civilian being awarded the Key to the City which is more prominent in the United States. Even more, Calgary’s own White Hat ceremony can trace its roots back to these traditions.

So What About 538 Buffalo Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron?
As I said above, 538 Buffalo Squadron this year celebrates its 60th Anniversary as an Air Cadet Squadron in the City of Calgary. Sixty years of Cadets who have had their focus in life through Air Cadets on citizenship, leadership, physical fitness, general aviation and stimulating an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces.
The majority of Cadet training takes place at our squadron during the regular school year with a percentage of Cadets selected for summer training courses at various Cadet summer training centers located across Canada. Central to the Air Cadet program are the gliding and flying scholarships offered to Air Cadets who qualify. One in five private pilots in Canada are ex-Air Cadets and 67% of commercial and airline pilots in Canada also began their careers as Air Cadets.

Some Last Notes Of Mine:
I have to admit this Parade was also very hard on me, as I could not climb the stairs well and had my usual chest pains, not to mention being out of breath and my ongoing left arm pain but it was worth it!
So I will be handing over being the 538 Squadron Sponsoring Committee Recording Secretary to a more able person. Captain Ricard will be also ending his time as Commanding Officer of 538 and handing over the reins of command of the Squadron to Captain Captain Charlie – Mae Marlatt.
This is why he is in so many of my photo shots. Not to mention of course my Granddaughter Sargent Skye Spence, one of my Grandchildren whom I am very “Proud Of” and as with all of my Grandchildren who I Love! 

Well, I have with a group of friends a long time ago and let me say, it was not a fun trip. We were in Banff and had partied the night before (all night), and next day were spaced out and hung over as we could be, so hitch hiking back to Calgary was out. We saw a freight train nearby and asked the Engineer if we could catch a ride if he was going to Calgary. He said yes but just don’t ride on the Units (Locomotive Engines), and to hop off before 11th street as the Railway Police would not think too kindly of us doing this. In the box car we found a pile of left over wheat seeds and laid down on them which turned out to be like lying down on fibre glass. Then as cars were being shunted about on a siding the summer heat in the box car that we were in turned up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit or 48 degrees Celsius. So a couple of us ran to a nearby farm house and borrowed an old wine jug from a kindly grandmother type. Filled it up with water from the garden hose ran back to our box car before the shunting was over and drank our wine/garden hose flavoured water in that 120 degrees Fahrenheit heat and promptly puked. Then the train started moving again…

It is true, a Non-Custodial Dad abducts his children and takes them on the RMS Titanic. The boys' parents had separated in early 1912 and their Mother Ms. Marcelle Navratil was awarded full custody of Michel his brother Edmond. However, she allowed her sons to stay with their Dad (Mr. Michel Navratil), over the Easter weekend and that is when he decided to abduct the boys and immigrate with them to the United States...

Michel his brother Edmond and their Dad Mr. Michel Navratil boarded RMS Titanic at Southampton, England on April 10th, 1912 the day the ship sailed, as second-class passengers. For the journey, Mr. Michel Navratil assumed the alias 'Mr. Louis M. Hoffman', and the boys were booked as 'Loto' and 'Louis'. On board the ship, Mr. Navratil aka Mr. Hoffman led passengers to believe that he was a widower. He let his sons out of his sight only once, when he allowed a French-speaking woman, Ms. Bertha Lehmann, to watch them for a few hours while he played cards.

The RMS Titanic on 14 April 1912, four days into the crossing and about 375 miles south of Newfoundland, hit an iceberg at 11:40 PM and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 - 2:20 AM on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The sinking of RMS Titanic caused the deaths of 1,519 people of which only 705 people and 2 dogs survived in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage operated by the White Star Line and she was built between the years 1909–11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast Ireland. She carried a total of 2,224 men, women, children (estimates of passengers and crew vary) and also animals, then sank this week 100 years ago.

After RMS Titanic’s collision with an iceberg, at 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, Mr. Navratil placed Michel and his brother Edmond in Collapsible D, the last lifeboat successfully launched from the ship. Mr. Navratil died during the sinking, and his body was recovered by a rescue ship, the Canadian Ship; CS Mackay-Bennett. Several ships were sent to the disaster site to recover bodies from April 22nd to May 15th. A total of 328 bodies were found floating in the area. In Mr. Navratil’s pocket was found a revolver and after recovery he was buried in Nova Scotia Canada.

The boys became known as 'Louis and Lola' who were the only children to be rescued from the RMS Titanic without a parent or guardian.
While in Collapsible D, Michel and his brother Edmond were fed biscuits by first-class passenger Mr. Hugh Woolner. When the rescue ship RMS Carpathia arrived at the scene, Michel and his brother Edmond were both hoisted to its deck in separate burlap sacks. Since the two children were toddlers and spoke no English, they could not identify themselves and were soon referred to as the Titanic Orphans. Ms. Marcelle Navratil sailed to New York City, New York and was reunited with her sons on May 16, 1912. She took her children, Michel and his brother Edmond back home to France aboard the RMS Oceanic.

Some people believe that GOD controls everything we do, a sort of a chess player GOD, playing both sides of the board, making all His moves and all ours too but clearly, this is not so.
It is GOD who takes immense risks.
No doubt the biggest risk of all was when He gave angels and man free will, including the freedom to reject Him, not just once, but every single day.
Then He can’t be moving all the pieces on the board, because people sin all the time.
For through fallen angels powers via mankind or by mankind alone, we commit horrendous daily Evil.
One case in point, does GOD stop every bullet that was fired at an innocent victim?
Does He also prevent tornados, storms, landslides and other natural calamities from harming us?
There is something much more risky going on here than we’re often willing to admit.

Most of us do everything we can to reduce the element of risk in our lives.
We wear our seat belts, or as in my case really watch cholesterol, or by putting on helmets while biking.
I have seen some people, who have trouble even leaving their homes altogether!
As they are not willing to chance the heartache of encountering like everyone else has, the good or bad that exists inside and outside of their own walls.
What if they are killed in a car crash, a drive by shooting, a tornado, or drown like people did in the Titanic?
What if they or their family, choose to one day turn their backs on GOD and become Evil?
What if . . . ???

GOD seems to fly in the face of all caution.
Even though He knew what would happen, what heartbreak and suffering and devastation at times would follow upon our birth onto this broken world.
GOD chose to still have us as His children and unlike some hyper-controlling parents, who take away every element of choice they can from their children, GOD gave us a remarkable choice.
As I believe that all GOD really desires from us, is what we have in our hearts and heads.
For as the gentle sunlight awakens us each day, we can “GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE” and each day, choose whether to be a Good Person or Not!
