F.Y.I. if interested,
once upon a time I was a Hostler for the CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY. I worked at the
CPR Alyth Calgary Yard in East Inglewood; this photo is of the CPR Aylth Turn
Table & Round House circa 1974. You could turn a Diesel Locomotive into a
different direction or run it into the round house for repairs etc.
The Glenbow has a
photo of this same Turn Table with a Steam Locomotive from 1890 http://www.flickriver.com/photos/glenbowmuseum/5852600607/.
For 84 years it did not change and now it is gone along with soon to be Aylth
as it is moves to the new location in S.E. Calgary. East Inglewood folks I am
sure will be pleased. Oh, if you did not line up the Turn Table properly, you
would be in a whole world of trouble! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGiYI3ercf8

P.S. Me at CPR Alyth, as a Hostler climbing onto 2 Locomotive Deisel Units. For you non Rail Road folks, the "F" on each one means "Front" of Unit, silly but true.
