A LOT OF BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN APRIL?

A LOT OF BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN APRIL?
T.S. Eliot didn’t know how right he was when he wrote, “April is the cruellest month.” It’s not exactly what Eliot intended, but there's a literal truth to the line.
Over the last 150 years, there have been an unusual number of natural and man-made catastrophes occurring within the month of April, coincidence???
Here are but just a few:

April 20th 1889 - First of all, Hitler's birthday.
April 4, 1968 - Martin Luther King, Jr. assassination.
April 5, 1986 - A bomb exploded at a popular discotheque West Berlin, killing two U.S. soldiers and a Turkish woman.
April 6, 1917 - The U.S. entered WW1.
April 6, 1994 - The beginning of genocide in Rwanda.
April 7, 1712 - In New York City, 27 black slaves rebelled, shooting nine whites as they attempted to put out a fire started by the slaves. The state militia was called out to capture the rebels. Twenty one of the slaves were executed and six committed suicide.
April 9-12, 1917 The Canadian Battle for of Vimy Ridge WW1.
April 10, 1942 - During World War II in the Pacific, the Bataan Death March began.
April 12, 1861 - The Civil War and American Revolution April 19, 1775 both started in April. Though much loss of life, the change these Wars brought were very much needed.
April 12, 1945 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt died.
April 11th to 17th, 1970 – Apollo 13.
April 14, 1865 – President Lincoln’s assassination.

April 15, 2013 - Boston Marathon bombings.
April 15, 1912 - Sinking of the RMS Titanic..
April 15, 1927 - Great Mississippi River Flood.
April 16, 2007 - Virginia Tech shooting.

April 17, 2013 - Texas fertilizer plant explosion.
April 17, 1961 - A U.S.-backed attempt to overthrow Premier Fidel Castro of Cuba failed disastrously in what became known as the Bay of Pigs fiasco.
April 18, 1906 - San Francisco earthquake.
April 18, 1942 - The first air raid on mainland Japan during World War II occurred as General James Doolittle led a squadron of B-25 bombers taking off from the carrier Hornet to bomb Tokyo and three other cities. Damage was minimal, but the raid boosted Allied morale following years of unchecked Japanese military advances.
April 19, 1943 - Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto staged an armed revolt against Nazi SS troops attempting to forcibly deport them to death camps.
April 19, 1995 - Oklahoma bombing.
April 19, 1993 - Waco Texas siege.
April 19, 1989 - Forty-seven U.S. sailors were killed by an explosion in a gun turret on the USS Iowa during gunnery exercises in the waters off Puerto Rico.
April 20, 1914 - Miners in Ludlow, Colorado, were attacked by National Guardsmen paid by the mining company.
April 20, 2007 - Johnson Space Center Shooting.
April 20 2010 - The Deep-water Horizon drilling rig explodes.
April 20, 1999 - Columbine Colorado shooting.
April 23, 1987 - L’Ambiance Plaza collapse in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
April 24, 1915 - In Asia Minor during World War I, the first modern-era genocide began with the deportation of Armenians, estimates vary from 800,000 to over 2,000,000 Armenians murdered.
April 26, 1986 - Chernobyl disaster Ukraine.
April 26, 1937 - During the Spanish Civil War, the ancient town of Guernica was attacked by German warplanes. After destroying the town in a three hour bombing raid, the planes machine-gunned fleeing civilians.
April 27, 1865 - On the Mississippi River, the worst steamship disaster in U.S. history occurred as an explosion aboard the Sultana killed nearly 2,000 passengers, mostly Union soldiers who had been prisoners of war and were returning home.

So, because it negatively affected many millions of people from 1923 to 1945, I started with Adolph Hitler’s birthday which again on April 20, 1889 and I believe all this horror revolves around.
There are probably other events that would qualify, if you look closely enough.
Of course, it’s true that two or three of the violent instances above are related, with one lunatic or set of lunatics paying macabre “tribute” to their beloved predecessors.
In any case for T.S. Eliot, April remains a very “cruel” month and this also true in my opinion.
Call it all Coincidence, Fate, Portent?
You be the judge…
