GAEL BLACKHALL R.I.P.

GAEL BLACKHALL R.I.P.

Today I just found out that early yesterday my dear friend and colleague Gael Blackhall left this world. Gael was wonderfully complex: a loner who was brilliant at building community; a creative, flamboyant spirit wearing a humble demeanor. She was a librarian, musician, artist, webmistress, and community garden coordinator. A giving soul with a curious mind. As writer Frances Weller has said of grief, "The work is to hold grief in one hand and gratitude in the other, and to be stretched large by them." How much sorrow can I hold? That's how much gratitude I can give for knowing Gael. Travel well to the land of the ancestors, dear friend. You won't be forgotten.
